In early April 2023, it was revealed that Vladyslav Dzikovskyi, a system administrator at Detector Media and a defender of Ukraine, had perished in combat. Contact with him had been lost on December 13, 2022, while he was on a combat mission in the Luhansk region.
Vladyslav Dzikovskyi had devoted over a decade of his career to serving as a system administrator at Detector Media. His colleagues fondly remember him as the 'anchor' of the team, thanks to his calmness and professionalism. On the very first day of Russia's full-scale invasion, he showed up at the office to relocate all the servers and equipment to a safer location, ensuring uninterrupted operations.
"His trademark smile provided our tumultuous team with a sense of security during these uncertain times," remarked Svitlana Ostapa, deputy editor-in-chief of Detector Media.
Dzikovskyi then made arrangements for his wife and their two sons to leave the country. Meanwhile, he remained in Kyiv and persevered in his third attempt to enlist in the army at the end of March. Initially rejected due to a lack of combat experience, Vladyslav never gave up on his determination to be of service.
Subsequently, Dzikovskyi served in the Ukrainian National Guard's operational battalion named after Serhii Kulchytskyi. He took part in the liberation of Siversk in the Donetsk region and engaged in combat in the Luhansk region.
Vladyslav ceased responding to messages after intense fighting near Kreminna. For a period, his family clung to the hope that he might have been captured alive, but their hopes were dashed when the Russians returned his body at the beginning of April.
Vladyslav Dzikovskyi is survived by his mother, wife, and two sons. He was 46 years old.
