On April 7, journalist Oksana Haidar’s body, as well as her mother’s, was found in the previously occupied village of Shevchenkove, in the Kyiv region. The women died due to trauma sustained from explosive devices. Oksana Haidar was known under the pen name ‘Ruda Pani’ (Red-haired Lady). On her Twitter account she published posts on history condemning Russia’s politics. Her last tweet was written on March 11, in which she described the situation in the occupied areas of the Kyiv region.
“Since yesterday there has been no power, the Internet is barely alive. Russia doesn’t let anyone leave — they open fire on cars and even bicycles. One can only sit quietly at home. Humanitarian catastrophe is a matter of a month at most. I’m deleting Twitter. I hope we’ll meet again. Everything will be Ukraine!” wrote Ruda Pani.
Afterwards, the journalist went incommunicado.
